AAT - The Administrative Appeals Tribunal
The AAT can review some of the decisions on visas made under the Migration Act 1958 by the Department of Home Affairs, the Minister for Home Affairs or the Minister for Immigration.
The AAT can review the following types of decisions made under the Migration Act 1958:
- To refuse or cancel different types of visas
- To refuse to approve a nomination of an occupation
- To refuse or cancel the approval of a sponsor
The most common types of decisions AAT review related to:
- Child support
- Commonwealth workers’ compensation
- Family assistance, paid parental leave, social security and student assistance
- Migration and refugee visas and visa-related decisions
- Taxation
- Veterans' entitlements.
